Terms of use: what you may upload and what you are responsible for

Upload only packing lists you have the right to process. Do not upload forged or altered documents. Check the output against the original before you file anything on the strength of it.

What these terms cover

CargoSheet is a web service at packinglisttoexcel.com that converts a packing list PDF into a line-level sheet and compares the sum of the lines with the totals the document declares. By using it you agree to these terms. Limits and prices are on the pricing page; how files are handled is on the privacy page.

The service is provided as it is. It produces a working sheet from a document; it does not file customs entries, give customs or legal advice, or guarantee that an entry will be accepted. To the extent the law allows, CargoSheet is not liable for losses that result from relying on output that was not checked against the original document.

Four questions before you upload

  1. Do you have the right to upload it?

You may upload a packing list that is yours, or one you are entitled to process for its owner, for example as their forwarder, broker or merchandiser.

  2. Is it genuine?

Upload the document as the supplier issued it. Do not upload a document you have altered to make its numbers agree, or one you have made up.

  3. Is it a packing list?

CargoSheet reads packing lists. Other documents give poor or empty results.

  4. Check the result before you file

The output is machine-read. Compare it with the original before it goes into an entry, a bill or a stock record. The filing is yours.

Terms: questions

Can I upload a packing list that belongs to my customer?
Yes, if you are entitled to process it for them, as their forwarder, customs broker or supplier would be. If your contract with them restricts third-party processing, check it first; the privacy page lists the companies that handle uploads.
What counts as a forged document?
A packing list or any other document that has been made up, or changed so that it no longer says what the issuer stated, including edits made only so that totals agree. CargoSheet's purpose is the opposite: to show where the numbers do not agree.
Is the output guaranteed to be accurate?
No. The conversion is automatic and can misread a page, especially a scan or an unusual layout. Flags and the tie-out help find problems but cannot find every one. Compare the output with the original before you rely on it.
Who is responsible for the customs entry or the bill?
You are, or whoever files. CargoSheet produces a working sheet from a document; it does not file anything, give customs advice or confirm that an entry will be accepted.
What happens if I go over my limit?
A second file in a day is not converted: the converter shows the limit message with a link to the plans. A file over the page limit is converted up to the limit, not refused; the page says how many pages were converted and the downloads are named with -partial. See pricing for the limits.
Can I call the API directly from my own scripts?
No. The endpoint exists to serve the pages of this site. Automated use that bypasses the page or the limits of your plan is not permitted.
Can I use the output commercially?
Yes. The output is your data, derived from your document. You are responsible for having had the right to upload the document.
Can the service change or stop?
Yes. The service is provided as it is, without a promise of uninterrupted availability, and plans and limits can change. A plan you have paid for is described by the pricing page at the time you subscribe.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Email [email protected] from the address you subscribed with. Plans renew monthly until cancelled. Cancelling stops the renewals; the pages already on your page code stay usable and do not expire.
What happens to my data when I stop using it?
Uploaded files are already deleted after conversion. See the privacy page for what is held about you and how to remove it.
